ENT treatments at London Bridge Hospital
We offer many treatment options for sleep-related breathing disorders. Our ENT specialists have expertise in a range of procedures, including laser-assisted palatal, tonsillar and tongue base surgery.
We’ll generally identify the cause of your airway obstruction through an endoscopy, which we conduct under general anaesthetic. Treatments are also usually performed under a short general anaesthetic, with laser surgery used to remove the problem area.
The thyroid regulates your body’s metabolism. If your thyroid is overactive, underactive or becomes enlarged in any way, you may experience symptoms such as excessive fatigue, weight gain or loss, palpitations, sweating or hair loss.
Your ENT consultant will begin by performing a thyroid function test, which analyses your thyroid gland hormone levels. You may also need to have an ultrasound scan and biopsy, known as fine needle aspiration cytology.
Thyroid problems are generally treated using medication. However, some nodules and goitres (swelling of the neck) do require surgery, which we conduct at London Bridge Hospital. Thyroid surgery is complex, and our surgeons are leaders in their field.
Oral Maxillofacial treatments
We take a multidisciplinary approach to diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, teeth, face and neck, combining medical and dental expertise. Our diagnostic services cover the full range of oral and maxillofacial diseases, from oral infections and facial pain through to ulcers and cancer.
Minor procedures are also performed, such as mole excision, facial lesion biopsies and treatment for trigeminal neuralgia, sudden severe pain in the face.
